Summer in SouthSide Bethlehem
This summer, SouthSide Arts District showcases two of SouthSide Bethlehem's premier destinations.

Lately, the air along Third Street in SouthSide Bethlehem has carried a sweet new scent—and it’s turning heads. That heavenly aroma of sugar and vanilla is coming from Wondaffle, the latest (and sweetest!) addition to the SouthSide Arts District.
Located at the corner of Third and Taylor Streets, Wondaffle is serving up golden, freshly pressed Belgian-style waffles topped with indulgent fixings and paired with rich, creamy homemade ice cream from the local legends at Batch Microcreamery. This dynamic dessert spot is the newest venture from the same team behind Batch in Center Valley and Twisted & Dipped, the chocolate-dipped fruit and treat bar on Northside Bethlehem’s Main Street.

At Wondaffle, the waffles are crisp on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside. Guests can choose from a menu of popular combinations or build a custom waffle with toppings that range from classic whipped cream and strawberries to over-the-top cookie crumbles and sweet drizzles. Add a scoop (or two) of Batch’s small-batch ice cream, and it’s the perfect bite of summer. It’s a “wondaffle” addition to Bethlehem’s ever-growing food scene.

Casual craft beverage lovers and aficionados alike know they’re in for a treat the moment they walk into Five Maidens Cider Company, where a wall full of ribbons, medals, and trophies tells the story of their excellence. As a cornerstone of the Lehigh Valley’s craft beverage community, Five Maidens is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience top-tier, award-winning hard cider.

Avid homebrewers since 2009, co-owners Andrew and Brian were introduced to the cider world when one of the pair’s family members was diagnosed with celiac disease. Since hard cider is naturally gluten-free, they were quick to begin experimenting with various recipes.

Each batch is crafted with locally sourced apples, resulting in standout flavor profiles like Ms. Jackson, a gold medal-winning Evercrisp single varietal at the 2024 US Cider Open; Valance, a cherry cider that earned First Place at the 2025 PA Farm Show and multiple national awards; and Dart, a tart blend recognized at both the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition and the Great American Cider Competition.

Their passion and experimentation eventually culminated in the opening of their ultra-charming taproom in SouthSide Bethlehem. Beyond its exceptional beverages, the taproom is a communal gathering spot.
