Raising each other up

At Capital Blue Cross, a mission to improve health and well-being extends far beyond the policies members carry.

At Capital Blue Cross, a mission to improve health and well-being extends far beyond the policies members carry. It’s reflected in a culture that empowers team members to thrive as they contribute and lead. Capital Blue Cross encourages authenticity and growth for all team members. A strong network of employee resource groups, including the Women’s Impact Network, supports personal and professional development.

That culture of empowerment shines through the women who make up approximately 75 percent of the workforce and are shaping the future of healthcare experiences in the Lehigh Valley and Central Pennsylvania. Among the standout leaders are Vicki Doule, Elisha Pugliese, Brittany Mako, and Roseann Humphrey—women who are truly boots on the ground, ensuring members feel informed and supported every day.

As Lehigh Valley Executive, Vicki Doule embodies Capital’s commitment to cultivating strong, empowered leaders. Recognized by colleagues for making time to mentor women across the organization, she strives to ensure others have a seat at the table, encouraging them to step into their strengths and advance with confidence.

Through Vicki’s example, leaders like Elisha, Brittany, and Roseann continue to grow and make meaningful contributions both inside and outside the company. Elisha serves on the board of Habitat for Humanity, Roseann collaborates with multiple nonprofits through the Capital Blue Cross Connect health and wellness center, and Brittany is an active member of the Young Professionals Council board.

Together, these women demonstrate that when leaders invest in one another, everyone rises. Their work reinforces Capital Blue Cross’s mission while strengthening the organization from the inside out. Their impact also reaches into the community, with many actively engaged in local boards and initiatives that help make the Lehigh Valley stronger, healthier, and more connected.
