A night of intrigue, a mission of hope

An evening of mystery, connections, and a shared mission to end cancer.

Some mysteries are worth solving together.

On November 12, the American Cancer Society will welcome 300 guests to Vault 634 in Allentown for the inaugural Lehigh Valley Discovery Ball, an elegant evening of intrigue with a purpose that extends far beyond the celebration.

Inspired by the classic game of Clue, the event invites guests to uncover clues, enjoy interactive experiences, and discover the many ways the American Cancer Society supports individuals and families facing cancer. From lifesaving research and advocacy to essential patient services, each discovery will reveal another piece of the organization’s mission.

And while some surprises will remain under wraps until the big night, one thing is certain: This is an evening dedicated to unlocking hope.

Local Leaders, Personal Connections

Leading the inaugural celebration is Honorary Chair Chris Martin, executive chairman of C.F. Martin & Co., whose commitment to the cause is rooted in his own experiences with cancer.

As a two-time cancer survivor, Martin also spent a decade supporting his wife, Diane, through her battle with breast cancer before her passing in January 2022. His story reflects the deeply personal impact of a disease that touches so many families.

Joining Martin are event co-chairs Katie Santana, president of Turnstone Creative and creative director of Fig Lehigh Valley, and Angela Malpedo, owner of Frosted Bakery. Both bring a passion for supporting their community and helping advance the American Cancer Society’s mission.

For Santana, seeing the impact of cancer on friends and loved ones, including her husband Isaac, who lost his mother to cancer at just 13, has reinforced the importance of supporting those affected by the disease. As co-chair, she hopes to help establish a new community tradition that makes a meaningful difference for years to come.

For Malpedo, that connection includes Hope Lodge, which provided her parents with a comforting place to stay while her father received cancer treatment at Penn Medicine. Supporting the Discovery Ball is her way of giving back and helping ensure other families can find that same sense of care and support.

More Than an Evening of Celebration

Beyond the mystery and excitement, the Discovery Ball will shine a light on the American Cancer Society’s work to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families.

Funds raised will support critical research, advocacy, and patient services, including Hope Lodge, which offers free lodging for patients and caregivers traveling for treatment.

Guests can look forward to a curated dining experience by Vault 634, live entertainment, a silent auction, and unexpected moments throughout the evening. Every element is designed to bring people together while deepening their connection to a cause that affects communities everywhere.
