Join us for a specialized training session designed for Stream Team volunteers focused on maintaining riparian buffer plantings. Riparian buffers play a critical role in protecting water quality, preventing erosion, and supporting wildlife habitats. This training will equip you with the knowledge and skills to care for these vital ecosystems and ensure their long-term success. This event is open to all, first-time volunteers are welcome.

What to Expect:

  • Understanding Riparian Buffers: Learn about the ecological importance of riparian buffers, including their role in improving water quality and supporting biodiversity.
  • Plant Identification: Gain the ability to recognize native plants and invasive species commonly found in riparian zones.
  • Maintenance Techniques: Receive hands-on training in tasks such as removing invasive plants, checking tree protection tubes, and managing weeds around young plantings.
  • Adoption of streamside sites for maintenance on your own schedule!

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy, closed-toed shoes
  • Work gloves (if you have them; extras will be provided)
  • A notebook or device if you’d like to take notes
