Wildlands Conservancy – Bioluminescent Critters of the Night Hike

August 22 @ 7:30 pm 9:30 pm

Step into the darkness and discover a hidden world that glows! Join us for an easy 1-2 mile guided night hike as we search for bioluminescent and fluorescent critters that come alive after sunset. Using black lights provided by Wildlands Conservancy, we’ll explore the forest to reveal insects, fungi, and other organisms that glow in surprising and beautiful ways. Along the way, we’ll learn what bioluminescence and fluorescence are, why certain species glow, and how these adaptations help them survive in the night. This program offers a fun blend of science, exploration, and wonder for curious nature lovers. All ages welcome.

What to expect:
• A moderate 1 – 2 mile evening hike
• Black light exploration to spot glowing critters – Black lights provided
• Fascinating science behind bioluminescence and fluorescence
• A unique after dark park experience Please wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and be prepared to hike on uneven terrain.
