Join the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) Literary Arts Department for its “Showcase at the Lodge” event at Cafe the Lodge on Friday, November 7th from 6-8 PM. Students will showcase a variety of original works, from poetry to prose to short stories and spoken word. Come celebrate creativity, expression and the power of storytelling. This is a FREE event that is open to the public. An Open Mic portion will also be included, allowing audience members to share their work. Attendees are encouraged to support the venue’s mission by ordering from the cafe’s terrific menu. The “Community is our Campus” at Charter Arts and the school is proud to celebrate over ten years of collaboration with Cafe the Lodge, bringing monthly literary events to the Southside Arts District’s vibrant First Friday scene. Students of the literary arts department engage in a comprehensive writing curriculum with courses such as Character Development, Exploration of Modernism & Postmodernism, Children’s Literature, Film Studies, Exploration of the Romantic Style, Media Studies, and more. Literary Arts Artistic Director, Kristin Liemberger, shares: “Students write and analyze creatively and critically, experimenting with their own creative voices in the construction, production, and performance of original works.
