Acting Workshop for Teens
July 14 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Push your acting skills to the next level with this dynamic workshop at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) in Bethlehem. Ideal for young actors of all skill levels, participants will be using improvisation exercises to sharpen skills, increase creativity, emphasize the need to embrace the ideas of others, and handle uncertainty, with or without a partner on stage, in an inventive way. With movement exercises, they will work to use their body to create the world of characters and how they move through it, telling a story using only physical movement. These skills will benefit the young actor’s ability to think on their feet creatively, master cold reads for auditions and/or callbacks, and bring bold choices to the projects they work on. The week will culminate with a short showcase for parents/guardians. Charter Arts’ Artistic Director of Theatre, Kelly Minner-Bickert, shares: “Amanda Lisette has been part of our Alumni Artist-in-Residence program working with our students on improv and directing two shows in our main stage season. The students love working with her so much they keep requesting that she return to direct and teach them. Her style is open and playful, and she is extremely creative and encouraging, which allows students to feel safe and willing to take risks and make bold choices!” This workshop is part of the school’s Summer Academy, a program of arts enrichment workshops for kids/teens that is open to the community. This program is a great way to work other young artists from the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Session runs July 14-17, 9 AM-12 PM daily- open to children ages 12-15. (Older students may also be considered). Visit CharterArts.org for more information.
