Celtic musical troupe The Chivalrous Crickets & Friends hosts an annual Christmas event unlike any other. Experience the folk magic, mayhem and mystery of an old world Twelfth Night Yuletide celebration – this year with a nod to the uniquely Scottish holiday of Hogmanay. Caroling, ceilidh dancing (watch or join!), tunes and songs, storytelling, sweets & cider, masking, decorations, mid-show trivia game hosted by Steven Bost, children’s games, Lord of Misrule lottery and folk customs of yore galore await at this unique event – part show, part festival, part large community party! Join a piping processional; have your New Year fortune read at the “Divination Station”; learn about the ancient custom of Saining; experience a centuries-old mummer’s play replete with sword fights and other nonsense, and beware of Trows – Scotland’s otherworldly Yuletide troublemakers. From the strange to the hearth-warming, discover the fascinating and deep history of Christmas through this experiential, family-friendly extravaganza.
