#WomensWork Feature: Ann Marie Supinski

Meet Ann Marie Supinski, from AM Luxe

The AM in AM Luxe—a women’s apparel and accessory shop in downtown Bethlehem—is Ann Marie Supinski, the shop’s founder and CEO. But her name isn’t just on the door. “The first time my friend came to the shop,” Supinski says, “she told me I feel like I’m in your closet.”

After years of having to shop outside the Lehigh Valley to find unique items that fit her style, that didn’t feel too young or too mature, Supinski was inspired to provide a curated collection for the sophisticated woman locally. Knowing the business carried her name means she’s personally, deeply invested in making it a success. And it’s paying off: “This is has been the most rewarding experience in my career,” she says. “Owning a business in downtown Bethlehem brings me joy each and every day.”

As much as she loves fashion, she loves being part of a community, and feels a responsibility to give back. AM Luxe hosts Shop with Purpose nights, where Bethlehemites can enjoy food and drink while they shop, with a percentage of the evening’s proceeds going to support their charity of choice. She also stresses the importance of mentors. She opened AM Luxe after a 38-year career as an executive in retail, managing national brands and store teams to success. Starting her own business was possible with the encouragement of many, and with the particular support of a mentor.

“Look for every opportunity to have a mentor and be a mentor,” she says. “I was fortunate to have mentors throughout my career that encouraged me to pursue opportunities that provided growth. A great deal of my success came from that guidance and support.” Now she takes every opportunity to give back and be a mentor to young women herself. “There is no better feeling.”

It was a risk to leave her steady career and open her own business, but the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. Supinski’s goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of the women she has been fortunate to have in her life—the mentors who championed her, the friends and family and colleagues, and the women of Bethlehem who support local business and each other. “Believe anything is possible. Don’t settle,” she says. “Don’t waste time trying to be what you think people want you to be. Be the best version of you and know that you will be great.”
