The Look: Relaxed & Welcoming

If you’re looking for a place to unwind and unplug, Back Door Bakeshop is your spot.

Since most people visit us when they are either on their way to work, or taking a break from work, we strive to create a relaxed, peaceful setting, without the hum of motors or clicking keyboards,” said Dina Hall, Manager at the shop. “Back Door Bakeshop serves everything for takeout, so there is no indoor seating. Instead, our small waiting area provides an opportunity for folks to browse the boutique or enjoy an unintended meet up with friends while waiting for their food.”

The atmosphere is all about encouraging connection between people.

We actually discourage cell phone use, and encourage lively conversation,” said Dina. “It’s not unusual to hear complete strangers helping one another choose what to order for lunch.”

The Menu: Handmade, Feel-Good Food

“We like to use the phrase ‘Hand-made, feel-good food’ because the core principles of our menu come from family recipes and local favorites,” said Dina. “We do our best to find the freshest, all-natural meats and vegetables, and we source our food locally as much as possible, especially during the growing season.”

The menu has fresh peach and apple pies featuring Scholl Orchards produce, and the quiche is made fresh with eggs delivered to the team from Country View Farm.

“We also serve fresh roasted coffee from Booskerdoo Coffee Company located in Asbury Park, New Jersey,” added Dina.

The menu options continually rotate—ensuring there are interesting, fresh options on a weekly basis. Options typically include seasonal soups and sandwiches (definitely try the Corona—oven-roasted chicken, cheddar cheese, crunchy onions, tomato, ranch dressing, greens, all in a spinach wrap—and the Canevari—smoked mozzarella, tomato, onion, olive tapenade, greens, all on ciabatta).

And of course, the bakery is phenomenal. Customers can browse delicious seasonal pies, frosted cakes, bundt cakes, specialty cakes (Apple Cider Cake, anyone?), classic & specialty cookies, cookie trays, brownies, dessert squares, scones, muffins, coffee breads, and their ever-amazing biscotti.
