Community Interest
Opportunities To Grow
Spring ushers in new opportunities for growth and connection, and Lehigh Valley is embracing this season with an abundance of community gardens.

Spring signals new beginnings and fresh opportunities to dig into something meaningful. Community gardens are sprouting up all over Lehigh Valley, bringing people together to grow nutritious produce while inspiring pride and connection.
Harvesting fruits, vegetables, and herbs is only part of the fun. These community gardens unite volunteers through a common interest in sustainability, creating spaces where they can get their hands dirty and make a difference. “Volunteers are at the center of community success,” said Karen Smith, CEO of the Volunteer Center. “Everyone has a voice, anyone can advocate for a cause, and anyone can get involved.”
Lehigh Valley’s strong philanthropic spirit shines through its residents and institutions. Colleges like Lehigh University, DeSales University, and Lafayette College, along with organizations such as Lehigh County, Lehigh Valley Health Network, St. Luke’s University Health Network, and The Greater Easton Development Partnership, cultivate community gardens that provide healthy, enriching outlets for employees, students, and residents. With every hand in the soil, these shared spaces offer fresh produce while fostering stronger connections and a sustainable future.
Community gardens are just one example of how deeper connections and more meaningful experiences are made in the Lehigh Valley. From planting seeds to building friendships, the region offers opportunities to grow—in every sense of the word.
