Making their mark

From whimsical chalk robots to soulful oil paintings, these Easton-area artists create in diverse mediums and styles.

From whimsical chalk robots to soulful oil paintings, these nine Easton-area artists create in diverse mediums and styles, yet are united by a passion for creativity and connection.

Jamie Collins, Landscape Architect (@cedarlinedesign)

Jamie Collins, a certified arborist and landscape architect, creates plant-focused, experiential gardens that blend art, design, and functionality. Drawing on 30 years of experience in horticulture, construction, and design, she works with a variety of materials to transform outdoor spaces into ever-changing vignettes shaped by nature, season, and growth. Through Cedar Line Design, LLC, Jamie collaborates closely with clients to craft gardens that offer refuge, beauty, and artistry.

Devin Feely, Abstract Illustrator (@devinfeely)

Devin Feely is an abstract illustrator, sculptor, and designer whose work emerges in the moments between mindfulness and relaxation. He rarely plans his pieces, letting lines, surroundings, and music guide their evolution. His creations explore shapes, “pictures within pictures,” and the sensory connections between sound, sight, and experience. Devin’s lighthearted approach reflects his love of making art purely for fun.

Al Johnson, Mixed Media Artist (aljohnsontheartist.com)

Al Johnson is a distinguished African American abstract expressionist whose work appears in collections worldwide. Building on his celebrated career in storyboarding for film and animation, he channels spiritual discovery, healing energy, and emotional resonance into mixed media abstractions. His work reflects his indigenous connection and belief that art is a signature of existence, inviting connection, transformation, and meaning.

Alyssa Klash, Artist & Designer (@alyssaklash, Alyssaklash.com)

Alyssa Klash brings a bold visual language that bridges fine art, fashion, and printmaking. Beginning with a sketch, her work evolves into digital illustrations, hand-sewn textiles, and a fashion line of illustrated fabrics and kimonos. Her wearable art has been seen on celebrities, and her career includes collaborations with icons like Betsey Johnson and Tara McPherson. Now based in Easton, she continues to create, teach, and share her distinctive style with the community.

Lauren Kindle, Painter (laurenkindle.com)

Lauren Kindle’s paintings blend memory, imagination, and everyday beauty. Often creating self-portraits hidden behind flowers, she explores light, shapes, and emotional depth. Preferring to work from pencil sketches over photographs, she elevates mundane moments into tender compositions. She also shares her skill with the local arts community by teaching workshops, offering private lessons in her Downtown Easton studio, and managing a figure drawing group at Lafayette College.

Danny Moyer, Fine Artist Educator (@dannymoyer.artist)

Danny Moyer blends street art and pop art influences, creating bold, energetic works filled with disjointed imagery and found objects that reflect modern life. Exhibited widely throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond, his art lives both on gallery walls and in the classroom. As an educator, he inspires students to explore, create, and discover their own visual voices.

Steven Schmid, Designer  (archedginpigs.threadless.com)

Steven Schmid is a graphic designer whose corporate career is balanced by a passion for community. He volunteers his skills for the Easton Farmers Market, local festivals, DJs, bands, and downtown businesses. He also runs an online shop featuring apparel, décor, accessories, prints, and other products with his original designs. Guided by curiosity and collaboration, his process centers on asking questions to capture the vision of those he serves.

Tom Smaldone, Mixed Media Illustrator (tomsmaldoneart.com, @chalkborg)

A classically trained artist inspired by street art, Tom Smaldone creates quirky chalk robots—known as Chalkborgs—that pop up in unexpected alleys, building sides, and hidden corners across Downtown Easton. These whimsical, impermanent creations invite passersby to pause and reflect on the fleeting nature of art and the emotions they stir. Beyond chalk, Tom offers Chalkborgs on canvas, prints, and apparel, letting fans bring a piece of his playful world home.

Emily Strong, Oil Painter (emilystrongfineart.com)

Emily Strong creates intimate, figurative oil paintings that explore the complexities of physical relationships with self, others, environment, and identity. In this series, intertwined, abstracted forms challenge viewers to consider perception, bias, and the human experience. Beyond her personal practice at studio eleven20 in Easton, Emily serves as Exhibitions and Collections Coordinator at The Baum School of Art.
