Fresh Face: The Rustic Wood Project

A DIY personalized rustic home decor workshop that caters to private parties and so much more!

When Kara Mease, Nickie-Jo Breiner, and Lisa Davis first met and bonded at a game for their boys’ football team, they never thought they’d become a team themselves. But that’s exactly what happened when they created The Rustic Wood Project, a do-it-yourself workshop that offers step-by-step instruction where you can create personalized rustic home decor. In the near future, customers will be able to create oversized outdoor games and dabble in wood burning.

After becoming fast friends, the trio ended up attending a party together that combined woodworking and wine. They enjoyed the experience so much that they decided they’d like to think about doing it themselves. “We had a lot of fun,” Nickie-Jo says. “and we all woke up the next morning and realized we still wanted to do it.” And the plan for The Rustic Wood Project was born.

“Here, you can literally come with any idea, and we’ll make it happen for you. We enjoy creating and designing custom pieces that complement our customer's style.”

Parties at The Rustic Wood Project’s workshop occur on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and you need to register online one week before your event—though the team will make every effort to offer time slots during the week. In addition to private parties, they also offer open workshops. Dates and times can be found on their website and Facebook page. The team also does fundraising and community-based events on a regular basis, such as Liberty High School Theater, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, as well as tricky trays and bingos. The Rustic Wood Project would be glad to work alongside you and a foundation of your choice.

You’re invited to bring your own food, drink, and music to The Rustic Wood Project—and you can also bring your own wood-working ideas. “Here, you can literally come with any idea, and we’ll make it happen for you,” Kara says. “We enjoy creating and designing custom pieces that complement our customer’s style.”

Ultimately, the goal is customer satisfaction. “We do a lot of communicating with guests that are coming in,” Lisa says. “We want you to love it!”
