Fresh Face: Church Street Market

New Church Street Market brings local flavor to Bethlehem

When Genevieve Marcon moved to Bethlehem six years ago, something was wanting. She loved being here—her husband is originally from Allentown—but the pharmaceutical sales trainer worked from home, and missed being able to pop down to a coffee shop and chat with her neighbors. Opening Church Street Market was both the culmination of a food-lover’s dream and a gift to her community: a space where neighbors could run into each other, have a conversation and share a meal. “That feels good,” she says. “To have [created] a space where people are making those connections.”

It’s also a space where local businesses can connect with customers. The Market offers a seasonal menu of delicious breakfast and lunch options, sandwiches, wraps, toasts and bowls, as well as a selection of local goods, from Monocacy Coffee, Matty’s Marvelous Makery, Lehigh Valley Kombucha, and Valley Milk House Cheese, and baked goods from Made by Lino and Sweet Doe, among others.

Marcon still works in pharmaceutical training, but when she’s at the Market, she’s “the bonus set of hands,” who can cook, clean, or pour the coffee, as warm and welcoming as everyone on staff. Church Street Market was born of a sincere wish to provide a common space for people in Bethlehem to gather, and Marcon hopes it will become a part of the fabric of daily life. Whether you’re looking for a catered lunch, a sweet treat with a friend, or a one-of-a-kind pop up dinner, you’re always welcome at Church Street Market—where good food doesn’t have to be an occasion, but a daily reminder of what’s possible in the place where you live.
