Community Action Lehigh Valley’s Generation Next

Generation Next is a college readiness, access, and completion program created to correct disparities in education.

Generation Next is a college readiness, access, and completion program created to correct disparities in education.

It ensures that students of color, first-generation college students, and/or low-income students have increased access to opportunities that will further their education. The program works with students to achieve college admission, integrate into college life, and complete a post-secondary program. Additionally, it provides opportunities for students who wish to seek vocational and technical training.

The curriculum includes a socialemotional learning component that incorporates lessons on identity exploration, personal organization, mental health awareness, and professional networking. Students are paired with mentors who stay in contact with them after admission to college or university, providing them with a monthly check-in, personalized support, and a lifelong peer network.

Generation Next serves high school students in the Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton area school districts.

In September of 2020, Bethlehem restaurant Apollo Grill launched the Generation Next Scholarship Fund, created to help Generation Next students navigate the financial burden associated with a post-secondary education. Alongside sponsorships and donations from patrons, Apollo Grill has committed to donating 5% of food sales Tuesdays from 5-10 pm.
