Bringing science to the parks

Partnership brings free science programs to Allentown parks, expanding learning opportunities for children.

When the Allentown Rotary brought together two women leaders—Rosaria Stoops, Executive Director of Friends of the Allentown Parks, and Julie Ambrose, Director of Philanthropy at Da Vinci Science Center—they helped their organizations join forces to bring learning and community to the city’s parks.

Last summer, Friends of the Allentown Parks offered 20 free science classes delivered by Da Vinci Science Center to children during the City of Allentown’s summer day camp, teaching young explorers science principles and encouraging them to think like scientists. The initiative reflects Friends of the Allentown Parks’ mission to create vibrant, inclusive parks and Da Vinci Science Center’s mission to inspire curiosity and ignite a passion for science.

This summer, with community support, they hope to expand the program and bring even more free classes to Allentown children in all the city parks.

Support their work by donating and attending Nerd Night at Da Vinci Science Center on April 10. Tickets are available at davincisciencecenter.org/experience/nerdnite.
