The Banana Factory in Southside Bethlehem is an iconic destination for both beginner and lifelong artists to express themselves through a variety of mediums. Housed in a complex of six buildings (including a former banana distribution warehouse), the Banana Factory is proud to have served the artistic community for 25 years through its excellent programming and classes.
However, the current space has since reached its capacity. To expand and accommodate even more people, the existing facility is set to be demolished and replaced with a new Cultural Center. This state-of-the-art center for visual and performing arts and education will encompass five stories, 78,500 square feet, 36 new art studios, and a 5,500-square-foot glass studio, becoming a vibrant hub for artists and creatives to explore diverse programs.
Whether it’s glass blowing, ceramics, jewelry making, or digital arts, the Banana Factory is packed with year-round programming for every age. The new facility will expand on the current offerings and introduce new programs the community can enjoy, including a comedy theatre and a digital production lab and studio.
While the Banana Factory undergoes renovation and demolition, ArtsQuest will continue to offer its programming elsewhere. Classes and other activities will be available for the public at several locations, including schools in the Bethlehem Area School District, Bethlehem Area Public Library, and Moravian University. The community can rest assured that there’s still plenty to be involved in while the space is being remodeled. Arts and expression are crucial to any thriving society, and ArtsQuest is dedicated to keeping these accessible to all during renovation and beyond.
