Bethlehem-based acoustic rockers Billy Bauer Band are no secret to the Greater Lehigh Valley community. The band is one of the region’s most popular and enduring original acts, known for their relaxed, positive energy and an intricate, yet accessible musicality that calls contemporary jam influences like Dave Matthews Band to mind.
The band – consisting of singer/guitarist Billy Bauer, electric violinist Chris Lorenzetti, bassist Steve Zalalas, and drummer Drew Somers – recently released its first studio single in six years, “So I Love.”
Produced by Tommy Joyner at MilkBoy the Studio in Philadelphia, “So I Love” is an up-tempo, yet reflective piece of alternative rock that features an infectious melody, impassioned vocals, and the harmonizing voice of Chris Lorenzetti’s electric violin to perfectly express the pain of love and loss. The song is a tribute to Bauer’s late father, who passed away of pancreatic cancer in 2004.
“’So I Love’ is a song that reflects on the loss of my father. Despite time moving on, certain wounds never heal.” Bauer notes. “But, that shouldn’t prevent a happy life. Instead, I choose love, on both the good and bad days.”
Billy Bauer Band plans to return to the studio this winter to record its follow-up single, “Worms,” followed by a full-length effort projected for 2019. The band is also focused on expanding its reach outside of the Lehigh Valley by lining up out-of-town shows, starting with a bus trip to famous New York City venue The Bitter End on Saturday, December 15. Tickets to the show – and to ride the bus – are currently available at billybauerband.com/shop while they last.
