Oktoberfest presented by Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is right around the corner and we’ve got two weekends of ridiculous fun in store for you, October 5-7 and 12-14.
There’s all your traditional good times… we’re overflowing with seasonal brews, we’ve got a menu full of Bavarian eats, and polka, dancing and Schuhplattlers (traditional alpine folk dancing) galore. The Brewers Village presented by Weis Markets is also back and you can purchase tickets to sampling sessions where you can try more than 40 different brews!
But our fall bash also has a whole lot of absurdity and whimsy, because life is too short to take Oktoberfest too seriously. What do I mean? Check out all the nonsense below.
The 3rd Annual David Hasselhoff-Off
Hasselhoff-Off contestants will show off their David Hasselhoff-like good looks in this hilarious costume and impersonation contest. The Hasselhoff-Off starts off slow with a Baywatch-inspired slow-motion running competition. Then things get real interesting. Yes, you can still sign-up to compete (if you’re 18 or older).
4 Days(!) of Weiner Dog Racing
The annual running of the wiener dogs is back in this fun, spectacle-to-end-all-spectacles. Watch in awe as we release the dachshunds!
The selection of The King and Queen (more weiner dogs)
Just like Munich’s Oktoberfest, a queen and king weiner dog will be crowned at the end of our Dachshund Parade!
Stein Hoisting Championship
How long can you hold a full stein of beer in front of you? We’ll be awarding $500 cash and a $100 gift card to Molly’s Irish Sports Pub & Grille in Bethlehem to whoever can hold their beer high the longest
Beer-Lympics
Are you and your friends the masters of party games? If you are, you can register to try and take home the gold at the 2nd Annual Beer-Lympics event at Oktoberfest, presented by Lehigh Valley Sports Leagues!
There’s so much more to mention, but I’ve officially run out of space, so swing on by the Oktoberfest site at www.steelstacks.org/Oktoberfest where you can learn more about each event and even sign up to join the fun. See you at Oktoberfest!
