The Best Free Concert You’ll See This Summer? Quite Possibly!

Last year Chicago played a sold-out headline show at Musikfest on the Sands Steel Stage, but their opening act, for me at least, completely stole the show.

Devon Gilfillian’s opening soulful gospel/blues set was so good that when there was a last-minute cancellation on the free stages last year, we tapped him as a replacement.

I see a lot of shows, it comes with the job. I’ve been at ArtsQuest for longer than I want to admit, because I’m old now. It has been more than a decade since I graduated from college so even though I can argue that I’m technically a Millennial the truth is, I’m an old man now and the world is passing me by… I got off topic there dealing with my own mortality, my apologies. The point is, I’ve seen a ton of concerts in my life and as a result, I’m fairly jaded. But Devon Gilfillain stopped me in my tracks. So. Friggin’. Good.

So I’m pleased to tell you, dear Fig Bethlehem reader, that Mr. Gilfillian is coming back to Bethlehem this summer, and even better, he’s playing a FREE SHOW!
