No matter how many fantastic festivals and events Bethlehem has during the spring, summer, and fall months, winter may always be what the city is best known for.
During the winter months, the Christmas City is filled with travelers attempting to get that bit of holiday joy that only Bethlehem can provide.
From special shopping events to downtown cocktail trails, Bethlehem is home to much more than the best gifts money can buy. Perhaps the best gift is just being on Main Street when the first snowflake falls.
Here are some of our favorite events throughout the holiday season.
Christmas City Village Weihnachtsmarkt
Weekends from November 17 – December 23. Friday and Saturday from 11 AM – 8 PM, Sundays until 5 PM
Christmas City Village is a special shopping experience along Main Street in Bethlehem from the Sun Inn Courtyard to Church Street. Various artisans, food vendors, and speciality gift merchants take up residence in specially designed huts. The shopping experience not only allows you to purchase items that aren’t normally available in downtown Bethlehem, but they may also lead you to other restaurants and retail stores you haven’t visited before.
Historic Bethlehem Holiday Cocktail Trail
November 18, 2017 from 1-5pm
Instead of being visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past, why not try some spirits that make the holiday more enjoyable? Visit over 15 Historic Downtown Bethlehem stores & restaurants for holiday cocktails and mocktails. You must get your passport in advance by visiting this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/historic-bethlehem-holiday-cocktail-trail-tickets-38805435101
Christkindlmarkt
Nov. 17-19 and 24-26; Nov. 30-Dec. 3
Dec. 7-10, 14-17 & 21-23
SteelStacks, home to Musikfest, Oktoberfest, the Soccer Viewing Party, and other year-round events, is also home to one of the world’s best and most talked about Christmas artisan shopping destinations. In addition to the shopping, there are performances, delicious food, and even a special breakfast with St. Nicholas. Find more at http://www.christmascity.org/
Historic Bethlehem Live Advent Calendar
December 1-23rd at 5:30pm.
The Historic Bethlehem Live Advent Calendar is truly one of those things you need to experience to appreciate. It’s the only one of its kind in the country!
Kicking off its 11th year on December 1st at 5:30 p.m., the Live Advent Calendar will open at the 1810 Goundie House at 505 Main Street and continue nightly through December 23rd with various local organizations and groups giving special 10-15 minute performances to crowds each night.
No matter which event you choose to visit in Bethlehem during the Christmas season, know that visiting Bethlehem at that time is a journey in and of itself. Whether you follow the trails or blaze your own, we hope you find our city as much of a delight as we do.
