    Designer Creates Local Bethlehem Fashion

Cover photo is me, Fig Contributor Kristina Cole, trying on different styles!

When you think of designer, what do you think of? Coco Chanel? Luis Vuitton? What about our local designers?

I think of Lara Bly when I think of local designers. Lara has been a Banana Factory resident for many years. We are so lucky to have a dedicated designer creating her own unique fashions right here in the Bethlehem community!

I first met Lara Bly when we partnered to do a fashion show at Bear Creek in Macungie. I was collaborating with three fashion designers and pairing shoes with each of their unique looks. Lara stood out to me during the event. She was so organized and had such a great eye for how the look should be. She really prided herself in separates. Long maxi skirts and separate tops in shades of greens was the style she loved. Then, I was thrilled to work with Lara again in 2016 for the Red Shoe Luncheon and Fashion Show. When I was asked to produce the fashion show, she was the first designer I thought of. This was when I finally got to see her very unique shop located in the Banana Factory.

Her space is very charming. You wouldn’t believe how many amazing designs and items she fits in such a small space. But it feels so spacious!

Lara continues to evolve and grow as an artist and a designer. Now, around six years after I first met her, she has put together a stunning collection. She still stays true to her style with a focus on separates. You can piece together a top and a beautiful skirt to make an evening gown. Then, have that dressy top transition to a casual top with jeans.
